The Re-imagining Of Self: Self-Love As A Practice

From the old rally cry “Black is Beautiful” to the more recent tag #BlackGirlMagic, affirmations of self-love are not a new phenomenon. But what does this look like in practice and when faced with all the challenges Black women face today? How do we create the highest versions of ourselves in such a context? How do we tap out of everyday stresses and tune in to listen to our inner voice to address our internal needs?

This workshop explores ideas about what love is, what love isn’t and what it means to love yourself as a Black Woman in the 21st century. In true tradition, we invite you to our sisters’ circle and a carefully curated workshop themed around a tea party, where we exchange experiences and toast to the women inside of us. Participants are encouraged to put aside their daily stresses, endless to-do lists and chores to think deeply about their own personal needs.

This workshop will be facilitated and led by poet Indigo Williams and visual artist Lesley Asare.
