Evoking memories of times past and present whilst acknowledging the theme Rooted; expressing Struggle, Progress and Success through the ingenuity that exists within the African Caribbean Community.
Through a series of public art installations, Rooted documents the variety of pioneering ventures undertaken by the Windrush generation as they strove to build their lives, establish businesses and dreams here in UK. A visual narrative of images and words Rooted echoes the ideas, traditions and beliefs that serve to keep people rooted and thriving in an often unwelcome and hostile society whilst securing a sense that ‘We Belong’.
The Mannequins installation at BCA & Brixton Library document the contributions made to sport and music in the UK.
