This workshop looks at discriminatory policing of the 1970s and 1980s which led to uprisings in Brixton and around the country. Students look at oral history transcripts, national newspapers and newspapers of Black activists to understand how reporting methods affect our responses. This workshop aims to assist students to understand how our laws have changed as a result of campaigning and to encourage them to think proactively and collaboratively about solutions to social issues we face today.
