By Car

Travelling on the A23, follow Brixton Road until you reach the junction and take the turning on to Effra Road. Effra Road is adjacent to the Black Cultural Archives.

There are no parking facilities, and parking is limited in the local area. We recommend, when possible, to travel via public transport. There are pay and display and Blue Badge spaces located on Effra Road and Saltoun Road adjacent to the Black Cultural Archives.

Café

Our new café is a light and welcoming space that opens seamlessly on to a private courtyard. We are a stone’s throw from Windrush Square and the busy hub of Brixton’s town centre. A perfect place to meet friends or discuss ideas inspired our collection.

We have a variety of hot dishes and great light snacks, cakes, teas and refreshing cold drinks sure to hit the spot.

Open Tuesday – Saturday, 10am – 6pm.

Our shop offers a beautiful range of postcards, gift items, stationary and books inspired by our archive collection and Black British heritage. Many items are designed by contemporary designers and craftspeople; treat yourself or someone special to a unique and perfect gift.
