BLACK FUTURES MONTH 2025
Black History Month is fast approaching and at BCA, we continue to use the phrase Black Futures Month, because we honour Black history every day of the year.
This year’s theme, Standing Firm in Power and Pride, speaks directly to the spirit of our work. BCA was founded as a bold act of power: a determination to preserve our stories, ensure representation, and secure a more complete telling of British history. We stand firm in that mission, and we do so with pride. Pride in our heritage, pride in our communities, and pride in the profound contributions of people of African and Caribbean descent to Britain and the world.
Our mission to collect, preserve and celebrate the histories of people of African and Caribbean descent in the UK and to inspire and give strength to individuals, communities, and society. This work reminds us that history is not just about the past. It is about empowerment, resilience, and the vision of a shared future.
Through our programmatic streams: collect and activate, educate and inspire, celebrate and champion, we highlight the power of Black voices and the pride of Black culture. We honour the leaders, activists and everyday people who have fought for justice, broken barriers, and enriched our nation.
By supporting us this Black Futures Month, you will be helping us to stand firm in power and pride — not just in October, but every day. You will be affirming that Black history is British history: indivisible, essential, and a source of strength and pride for us all.
