JOIN US TO CELEBRATE 45 YEARS OF BLACK CULTURAL ARCHIVES
From the original collective, activist vision to record and preserve our Black History, we have grown into an internationally recognised heritage centre. We teach Black History, our collections reflect the experiences of Black people in the UK, and we proudly celebrate our heritage. BCA is proud to exist as a monument to all those who went before us, who fought the struggles, who pass on their wisdom today, and on whose shoulders generations stand. Join us as we celebrate 45 years of education, heritage and activism.
“We need our own archives… where acts and achievements pushed to the margins can be reclaimed as part of our liberation.”
– Len Garrison
For 45 years, Black Cultural Archives has carried that vision forward. From our founders’ first efforts to “go out and collect it and rescue it, retrieve it, preserve it, protect it,” to our home on Windrush Square today, BCA has been a place where Black British history is held in our hands, on our terms.
Researchers, students and academics from across the UK and beyond, now rely on BCA as a unique resource. It is a place where archives, oral histories and collections rooted in struggle and resistance shape how Black Britain is taught and understood.
