Collaborate with Black Cultural Archives
Black Cultural Archives has always co-created events and programmes with communities, organisers, artists, scholars, and grassroots organisations who care about Black British history as deeply as we do. Through this rich partnership and collaboration, we uphold BCA’s mission to collect, preserve, and celebrate the histories of people of African and Caribbean descent in the UK, and to honour the spirit of Black Cultural Archives: Be Yourself, See Yourself.
Please note: this page is for collaborative projects, not general room hire. If you are interested in hiring our spaces for a private event, please visit our Support Us page.
As a charity, we do not yet have funding to financially support projects, and so we will ask for support in your budget to cover the costs (where required) of:
Curatorial input and advice
Staff time to access and prepare relevant items from the collections
Space within our building
Communications support
Learning and engagement expertise
We will also prioritise projects grounded in what will best serve our communities.
To help us use our time and resources fairly, we ask that:
You contact us at least four (4) months before your proposed date
Your project has a clear connection to Black British histories and cultures
You are open to working in a way that centres community, care, and respect for archives and lived experience
We know some ideas will be fully developed and others will be at an early stage. Both are welcome.
Please fill in the form below to introduce your proposed collaboration. The more clearly you answer, the easier it is for us to understand how (and if) we can work together.
