At Black Cultural Archives, Black history is every day of the year.
Every October, the UK celebrates Black History Month to mark the contributions of Black people throughout history.
To coincide with Black History Month, we host our Black Futures season – focused on the future of Black, contemporary life in Britain. Embodying the message, Our Time is Now, this season will include events and exhibitions that will continue into January 2023.
October at BCA begins by celebrating Black British future leaders with a portrait exhibition. Later in the month, the future leaders will be honoured at an awards ceremony. We will then open the multi-media Transforming Legacies exhibition, which will showcase the work of emerging Black British artists. During the season, there will also be a host of in-conversations, panel discussions, and film screenings.
