Join us for 2 workshops to re-create Black Ink, the independent 70s publication, through archive, documents, photographs, and books.

WORKSHOP: Black Ink Experience. Part 1

Date: 13 May

Time: 10:00AM -1:00PM (with a break)

Led by: Kadija George Sesay

Take the Ideas from your head and put them on paper instead.

  • 1st half: There will be a selection of 3 themes, with one of the themes being ‘Brixton’

  • 2nd half: We will create two pieces of work each with the option of writing both poetry and prose in the workshop.

*WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING: A newspaper or a magazine to find a piece to write about


WORKSHOP: Black Ink Experience. Part 2

Date: 20 May

Time: 11:00AM -2:00PM (with a break)

Led by: Desrie Thomson - George

Create a finished piece that could be included in a future publication about Black Ink.

  • 1st half: There will be the option of illustrating a piece created during the previous workshop, or the title of the exhibition.

  • 2nd half: Cut and paste using the Black Ink method and technique ready for printing.

*WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING: Bring drawing materials such as pencil, eraser, black V5 Pilot-Hi -Tecpoint graphics pen (available from supermarkets, arts, and stationery shops).


* Spaces are limited for each session, please be mindful when registering.
