Seeing Ourselves: Representation in Heritage and Arts Careers

A Black Cultural Archives workforce development project that creates and contributes to a diverse, and representative, healthy, UK arts and heritage sector. Building on the work of our BCA Pathways: Arts & Heritage career events, with funding from the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, the Seeing Ourselves project looks at the career journey from primary school to being established in your career and wanting to move into board level positions.

  • PATHWAYS

BCA Pathways is a series of events run by Black Cultural Archives, as part of our commitment to help our community find opportunities in the Arts and Heritage sector. The events provide insight into possible career pathways with advice from expert panels and CV reviews.

  • BLACK ON BOARD

Black on Board is a training course for those from Black and global majority communities, from entry-level through to senior management level, who would like to take on board positions within the Arts and Heritage sector.

  • SCHOOLS: SEEING OURSELVES WORKSHOPS

A series of fun, interactive workshops aimed at raising career aspiration in the arts for children in Key Stage 1.

  • RACE IN HERITAGE AWARD (RiHA)

The Race in Heritage Award is a race specific benchmarking award offered to UK Culture, Arts and Heritage organisations. It is a joint venture initiative between Black Cultural Archives (BCA) and Inclusive Boards.

  • PODCAST PRODUCTION PROGRAMME

The podcast production programme offers young people real podcasting experience by introducing them to the recording, editing, producing, marketing, and distributing process of a podcast series. The training, facilitated by Oxygen Arts will give them the tools they need to support a podcast production team or create their own podcast.
